carrot juice, white blood cells, and bones

fresh carrot juice (over 6 carrots in there!)

now i'll have an orange mustache

I survived the MRI. Whoop-de-do. We'll know more later this week. I decided I've been a little pessimistic and I'm trying to actually teach myself some stuff about my health conditions during this time off work. I have several books I want to read. The first one I've completed I got at the Bastyr Dispensary and it's called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome by Michael T. Murray, ND . This is a great comprehensive book on Chronic Fatigue. It isn't just about Epstein Barre, it outlines several reasons for fatigue, including hypothyroidism and iron defiency, which I've got as well. I didn't know this when I picked up the book but he's pro raw food! He thinks over 50% of your diet should be raw fruits and vegetables and include lots of veggie juices. (I'm doing it right!) He also talks about all the research that shows how the immune system is compromised by eating too many animal products. It has a lot of info in there about how white blood cells work, the adrenal system, hypoglycemia and more. I am on a lot of the herbs he recommends, but now I understand WHY I am rather than just blindly taking them. I think that helps with mind-body connection. Since he is pro-juicing (he even wrote a book about juicing ) I am going to try to increase my juicing from 1 glass a day to 2 glasses. Today I made an all-carrot juice in addition to my green juice. I used the carrot pulp to make carrot-flax bread. This Dr. Murray has written a lot about other conditions so I highly recommend you read one of his books if you have a condition you are wanting to know more about.

The next thing is that I got a lovely surprise from my students yesterday. They all made me cute get-well cards! They used their scientific knowledge and put illustrations of bones and white blood cells on there. It is so apt because I am dealing with bone spurring and immune issues. They are so smart I can't help but show off some of their cards. Plus, I felt really loved and I know it takes not just the kids but the other teachers to pull something like this off so I know that they really care about me as well. Let's hope all that love and care goes right into the places of my body that need it! Here are some of the cards.

And, yes, the give-a-way is coming...stay tuned later this week.

gotta love those crazy scissors

the green things are the germs I suppose

i love the faith she has in my white blood cells!

but this girl wants to whip them into shape

even the skeleton poster on the wall misses me

You might want to check out "The healing power of illness" (book, pyschological approach) and "Dr Richard Schulz" (videos on video.google.com, biological approach, ignore the ranting but listen to the cures). I have a similiarly themed blog to you, there may be other links useful to you: http://mychronickidneydisease.blogspot.com
